INVITATION

“But are you called?” That was not the follow-up question I expected to hear the first time I answered the standardized post-high school graduation question, “What do you want to do with your life?” However, I found that I heard it more and more when I told people that I was thinking of pursuing ministry.

The inadvertent implications of these four words is that ministry is for the elite, for the favored, and for the “CALLED. These four words caused me to question myself, my gifts, and my ability to hear God. Yet, in the midst of that self-doubt, I couldn’t shake the sense that God was inviting me to something.

This week, I had the opportunity to speak at Monday Night Chapel at William Jessup University. Through the lens of Ephesians 4, I will share more of my story and try to demystify calling for the rest of us.
