“Okay, campers, rise and shine, and don’t forget your booties ’cause it’s cold out there today…” Is it just me, or does it feel like Groundhog Day?
For those unfamiliar with the 1993 film, “Groundhog Day” (Watch it. It’s on Netflix and you probably don’t have anything else better to do), it is a movie that stars Bill Murray as a TV weatherman who finds himself reliving the same day over and over again.
This film has resonated with me lately. With all of the self-quarantining, social distancing, and sheltering in place every day has kind of felt the same.
In “Groundhog Day,” Bill Murray’s character chooses to use each identical day to better his life and the lives of those around him. While stuck in the time-loop, he learns how to play the piano, sculpt ice, and speak French. He also tries multiple times to save a homeless man’s life (No spoilers here. You’ll have to watch it to see if he does. Again, it’s on Netflix). As I mentioned above, I relate to the situation Bill Murray’s character found himself in. Because of this, Claudia and I have started discussing some goals that we both have to help better ourselves, each other and others during this time. Essentially, we want to have a vision for this season of seemingly identical days.
Proverbs 29:18 reads, “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (KJV). Meaning, vision is essential to your well-being.
What vision or goals do you have for yourself or your family during this time?
