WITNESS

One of my spiritual disciplines is reading a Proverb a day. Essentially, whatever day of the month it is, I read that chapter of Proverbs. This morning, I read Proverbs 14.

One of the verses that stood out to me recently was Proverbs 14:25. It reads, “A truthful witness saves lives, but a false witness is deceitful” (NIV)

As Christians, we need to consider our witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Over the past several months, I have seen quotes, stats, and memes shared on social media with questionable (if any) sources.

In court, a witness’s credibility can make or break a trial. One of the things that can discredit a witness is if they have previously shared false information. Essentially, something false they share can later discredit something true they share.

As Christian leaders, we need to consider how what we post on social media affects our witness. Can we expect our non-Christian friends to believe what we say about our faith if other things we post are questionable at best?
