In his book, The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership, John C. Maxwell writes, “Leadership is influence – nothing more, nothing less.” When I read this book for the first time, it changed the way that I thought about leadership. My thought was that everyone has influence with someone. Therefore, everyone is a leader somewhere.
Wherever you lead, I refer to it as, “Your Circle of Influence.” There are five categories that I have identified in a person’s circle of influence:
- Yourself
- Your Family
- Your Community
- Your Workplace
- Your Church
In my published essay, You Are A Leader, I explain different ways you can lead in your circle of influence.
Think about it: Who is in your circle of influence? (Family, community, workplace, and/or church).
